Daddy update

26 09 2009

Parents are back in Singapore for my dad’s medical checkup. And unfortunately there is tumor growth (again) and my parents have scheduled my dad for his 4th brain surgery. Thankfully, according to what my mum told me, the growth is only on the surface (what surface? I have no idea). I think his surgery is on 1st Oct, again I’m not sure whether is it the 1st or the 10th because my mother typed the date out in her email as ‘1Oct’, so it’s like, did she think the ‘O‘ was a zero or what, while looking at her screen. But I shall assume my mother isn’t that blur and that she meant 1st and only forgot to tap the spacebar between the one and the ‘O‘. So anyway, his doctor is concerned with healing of the wound and stuff because this is after all his fourth surgery.

At the moment, the plan is that my parents will return to Shanghai after my dad’s surgery and followup, which would mean that they’ll be in Singapore for about a month or so. We’ll see how things go.

Thanks for all the prayers. :)

Daddy update

3 07 2009

Maybe most of you would have heard about it already. But anyway, my dad has accepted a job offer in Shanghai and he is going back to Shanghai on the 11th of July. And he’ll be back again in September for a checkup.

I’m excited that he is going back to work again! HEHE.

And yes, my mum will be going too.

What it’s like

3 06 2009

I called Singapore for the first time since I got to Adelaide today, and my mum was working so she couldn’t talk, called my grandmother’s place and found out that my dad wasn’t around to take my call either. I think my parents have abandoned me! :(

Anyway, so I spent the past half an hour whining to my grandmother about how the rice here isn’t as fragrant as the Thai rice that we get back in Singapore and how I’m starting to run low on cash to get food and how I don’t get yummy Cantonese-style herbal soups anymore. So she told me to bear with it and she’ll make loads of soup for me when I go back at the end of the year :D . She also told me that I should learn how to boil them myself, but I don’t think they have the chinese herbs here. And I complained about a whole bunch of other stuff which I can’t remember now.

Photos?

4 03 2009

Ok, I made an online album for my Australia photos. Partially because my parents are bugging me for photos and I refuse to add them on Facebook. Here it is!

http://caughtandcaptured.shutterfly.com/

So now there’re pictures on both Facebook and Shutterfly. Enjoy! :D

Mmm… Hmm…

5 02 2009

The lack up updates is because I’ve been busy going out everyday meeting up with people and all. I’m leaving in 7 more days people! So I’ve been trying to catch up with as many people as I can before I leave. Actually, up to today, I’ve been meeting the same few people. Haha.

Dad's side

I always look forward to CNY not only because of the awesomely yummy goodies but the whole atmosphere of the whole family getting together. Plus, some relatives I only get to see them once a year.

Why I’m putting on weight

21 01 2009

Because I can’t stop eating. GAH.

Mum being dubious about my photography skills

Mum being dubious about my photography skills and a really happy dad

It was claypot rice, soup, yummy sugarcane juice, char kway tiao and popiah. Totally bloated right now, but the food was good! As you can all see from the huge smile on my dad’s face.

Stir it up!

Stir it up!

The mixing of the yummy claypot rice, all my dad did was sit by and talk. Haha.

From then till now

20 01 2009

This year’s birthday was a quiet one. And I’d like to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes! Thank you for remembering.

The family

The family

It was a belated birthday celebration for me. I slept half the day of my birthday away. So I kinda turned 20 in my sleep, haha. And all I did for my birthday was to attend this MOH tea session about scholarships for Health Sciences.

I’ve finally got out of my hole (& Daddy update 2)

30 12 2008

Ok, so recently I’ve holed myself up in almost complete isolation in a bid to finish the Twilight series of books. And, I’m glad to say that I’ve succeeded. I really wanted to update my blog right after I was done with my books, but due to some internet/phone bill issue thing our internet had to be cut off for a couple of days. Gah, just when I decided to tear my eyes away from Edward and Bella for a while.

Anyway, I took about a week or slightly more than a week to complete reading all 4 books (time to buy all four books included as well) of the Twilight series. So I’ve been pretty much immersing myself in the make-believe world of Twilight. The lines written are so sweet, I could feel myself swooning. I’ve been so engrossed that I’d read the books late into the night, as a result, I’ve been appearing at work with horrible dark circles under the eyes. My colleagues were shocked, think I gave them a scare or something. They couldn’t stop commenting. Sigh.

One morning, I found a note on my workstation when I arrived at work.

What happened last night and tonight.

17 11 2008

When the parents are away, we can play mahjiong! Wahahaha.

At first it was just me, my brother and Cousin P playing. Then my grandma came home so all four of us played! But I felt so stressed because my grandma kept complaining I was slow and all so I was trying so hard to quicken my pace. She was so fierce! Like when playing mahjiong, she was suddenly so alert and all. The moment we stopped playing, she resumed to being her usual self. And because we didn’t have a mahjiong table, we started out playing on the floor. However, when grandma came back, we shifted it up onto one of those Ikea foldable tables. Improvisation yo. Hehe.

And I went to a semi-buffet thing with the peeps. Bumped into Patrick and family there! Haha. Pretty cool.

Missing D :(

D wasn’t there because he had exams to study for.

The food wasn’t too bad. If only we weren’t going to be separated so soon because of our studies. Sigh.

just random rants

5 11 2008

For those who have been dropping by here every now and then to keep yourself posted about my dad, he is still alive and kicking. And kicking too much probably. Basically he is fine and all is well.

He just came back from a checkup on Monday and the doctors found out that the tumor grew yet again. But the amazing thing is that, he isn’t showing any negative symptoms (thank God)! Which is a good sign and it has left the doctors puzzled. But then again the growing tumor isn’t really that good, I’m not sure what treatment he’ll be going through yet. Either going through a surgery again or chemotherapy (which may or may not work). This will only be decided upon one month later when my dad goes for another scan. Anyway, thanks for all your prayers.

Going on from here are just my rants. Proceed with caution. Heh.
