Yums
30 06 2009Hills and I made dinner together last night. I made baked chicken, and she made garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. It was yummy. Like, proper food at long last! I didn’t bother to cook much during the exams. Heh.
Oh, oh. And I managed to make the breast meat taste not dry. Which is the reason why I prefer the chicken thigh. Hee.
Hills baked a carrot cake too. And it tastes awesome, I absolutely love the icing the most. Can’t wait for her to make those lemon slices again too. Yummy.

What it’s like
3 06 2009I called Singapore for the first time since I got to Adelaide today, and my mum was working so she couldn’t talk, called my grandmother’s place and found out that my dad wasn’t around to take my call either. I think my parents have abandoned me!
Anyway, so I spent the past half an hour whining to my grandmother about how the rice here isn’t as fragrant as the Thai rice that we get back in Singapore and how I’m starting to run low on cash to get food and how I don’t get yummy Cantonese-style herbal soups anymore. So she told me to bear with it and she’ll make loads of soup for me when I go back at the end of the year
. She also told me that I should learn how to boil them myself, but I don’t think they have the chinese herbs here. And I complained about a whole bunch of other stuff which I can’t remember now.

I need a helmet.
5 04 2009I’ve concluded that if I want to survive till the day I graduate from university, I might need to get myself a helmet. No, wait. I might need a full body armor. The number of cuts and bruises that I’ve gotten ever since I got here is unbelievable, and the numbers are increasing. How have I managed to survive more than a month in Adelaide, I don’t know. It’s amazing. It’s like my parents have sent me to Adelaide, not to study, but for war.
Long random blabbering ahead, click below to continue reading.

First assignment done!
2 04 2009I’ve survived my first uni assignment and I hope that I’ll pass. Hehe.
And I finally have more than AUD$17 in my bank account. THANK GOD. I was going to starve because my food supply was start to run low and would probably just last me a few days more if the money still didn’t come in. Thank God for people like AA and TD and my housemates who’ve been feeding me food as well. Ok fine, TD only gave me ice cream and cookies but it’s still food. And I’ve been having random ice cream cravings recently and have expressed them to AA who’ve also caught on to it. WAHAHA. For the past week or so, I’ve been texting her messages that expressed my need to get ice cream into my system and made her walk all the the way to nearest Mac to get some ice cream. Hehe. Poor AA and TD were victims of my ice cream needs. Can’t help it that I’ve got a sweet tooth!
Anyway, my next assignment is to be due soon, but I’m procrastinating, obviously, since I’m here blogging. And I just cleaned my room today! My study table finally doesn’t have a layer of dust on it. It’s crazy dusty here.
To celebrate the fact that I finally have money to go grocery shopping, AA and I headed out to Central Market yesterday, which is in the city. And we finally got some yummy Japanese food. Did I mention that the portions here are huge?

Gah.
17 03 2009So, I have carrots, cabbage and potatoes in the fridge and chicken in the freezer. What do you think I can cook with all those to make a decent meal with that? I’ve had so much pasta lately that I should detox all that pasta out of my system.
Something really simple would be good.
Maybe just soup with some rice or noodles?
Hmm…
And the right side of my body is aching from playing badminton yesterday.
Need to exercise more.

We ♥ food!
9 03 2009When Singaporeans come together overseas, what happens? WE EAT! Yay! So where there are Singaporeans, there is bound to be food. Woohoo! Me and AA attempted to cook chicken rice with the help of the Prima Deli chicken rice box pastes, and it turned out to be pretty decent chicken rice despite the fact that we thought we were going to fail! The chicken we bought was so fat, we had to cut so much of the visible fat off. Heart attacking inducing I tell you.
Anyway, besides our chicken rice adventure, we had a potluck at KJ’s place. It was so, so yummy (I made curry!). We love food! Haha. And we tried to get Tim to dance but he ended up singing instead. Oh well. Stayed and chatted and laughed and watched a movie till midnight. Almost turned into a popsicle on the way back to campus. And when I got back, instead of going to bed. I ended staying up playing Guitar Hero and Grand Theft Auto with my housemates. Awesome fun. What a way to spend my long weekend eh? (Yeah, it’s a public holiday here today in Adelaide. Adelaide Cup day!)
