Happy Birthday, Singapore!

I need…

5 08 2009

Paper fasteners or treasury tags. I wished they had a wider variety of stationary here. People here need to see how Popular bookstore is like. And Popular isn’t even a shop that specialises in stationary, and their stationary collection would probably beat the collection of stationary they have here at their news agent, hands down.

Yes, I have a thing for stationary shopping.

And yes, I’m attempting to file my lecture notes and stuff in a bid to be ‘neat and organised‘.

Long time no see

Skyped with M last night after I got back from OCF. And a little with N before she had to go offline to take a call from her family back home.

M back in Singapore for her summer break

Sorry M, I had to steal a shot. Hehehe.

Wanna Skype, anyone? :)

Hearing cars go eehhh…. eerrrhh…!

Childrens’ Day is approaching and it clashes with Hari Raya Puasa, one other school holiday gone for those kids. Helped Jasmine pack the little goodie bags for the kids at church to celebrate their special day. Love the pretty colourful files. Snagged some to bring over to Oz since I’ve been told that they cost a bomb over there. (Thanks Jasmine!)

What I’ve been up to

9 08 2008

I went Kbox-ing with the girls on the 7th, spent the whole night there but we didn’t get to sing our full! Heh. We chose songs alphabentically; we only managed to get to ‘M’ before it got too late to get home. We started at 7 plus? ended at about 11.30pm. Heh.

After that it was a sleepover at T’s aunt’s place. Watched the Olympic opening and played sparklers at East Coast Park.

She’s a great teacher

6 08 2008

Met up with my English teacher today, along with JT. It was awesome to see her again and chat about what nightmares IB gave us. And about our juniors as well as our other teachers. It’s been so long!

She’s returning to Singapore (for good) soon, so hopefully we’ll be able to meet up again along with the other teachers (:

However, that would also mean that SSIS is going to lose an awesome teacher.

Let’s go shopping.

Cool, it was 22 degrees celcius last night!

In Singapore!

Maybe soon we’ll get 4 different seasons too.

Awesome.

Dim Sum Dollies

21 02 2008

Went to watch the Dim Sum Dollies at the Esplanade with Kaye, Jasmine and Daniel. It was the opening night, and it was the night that Singapore won the bid for the Youth Olympics. Is it me, or is Singapore getting really crowded these days?

Anyway, the Dim Sum Dollies were really hilarious. It’s worth every single penny $38 (not including Sistic $2 Administrative charge) I paid for the ticket. Although the $38 is the cheapest ticket, the seats weren’t that bad. We may be the furthest away from the stage, but you can still the stage and the performers pretty clearly (you can still see Hossan Leong’s hilarious expressions).

From what I read from the leaflet they gave out regarding last night’s performance and the Dim Sum Dollies, this is already the 6th installment! And this time it’s about the History of Singapore. Hilarious, I laughed till I kept slapping my lap, rocked back and forth in my seat and moisten my eyes with tears. The jokes were really up-to-date with the recent happenings in Singapore (Formula One, Ring Fencing etc).

The script was clever-LEE (HAHAHA! Sorry inside joke, go watch to catch it!) written. Given the dialogues in the show, we were kinda wondering why it’s allowed. But then again, the dialogues never really refer to anyone particular. You have to know what’s going on a bit to catch they’re jokes. Read more newspapers before going. Heh.

India will take over all the call centres! China will take over manufacturing!

HAHA!

Sorry, I digress. Random lines from the show keeps popping up in my head.

The ending felt a little like National Day Parade with people waving the Singapore flag, National Day songs and stuff. But I guess it’s because the director did National Day before. Maybe he wasn’t satisfied with the small paragraph they dedicated to him on the leaflet (not big enough lah, director leh.), so he had to make it obvious with a mini fireworks and National Day songs (Singapura… oh Singapura… Sunny island… Set in the sea…). The only thing that was missing was the helicopter that would always fly past with the huge Singapore flag.

Every Singaporean should catch it.

Shall not blurt out any more lines from the show.

I’ll definitely catch another Dim Sum Dollies show. (:

I want to watch The Leap Years. I digress, I’m so random. Tsk.

(Still awaiting photos from Kaye.)

Go Slingers!

25 01 2008

SlingersI’ve probably heard that phrase thousands of times at the office over the radio, I had no idea what this ‘Go Slingers’ thing was about. All I heard is a lot of rumbling from the DJ then suddenly this ‘Go Slingers’ phrase comes up. (Like what/who in the world is/are the ’Slingers’?)

Since my brother is a lazy ass, he takes forever to upload photos. $%^&@

So anyway, my brother being the oh-so-random person he is, won 8 free tickets to the Slingers game at the indoor stadium, by calling up some radio station to answer some question. And I was invited to go because he couldn’t find one more person to make up the people, plus he didn’t want to waste that one ticket too. Since I was free that day, I tagged along with his friends to watch the match (That’s how I found out that the ‘Slinger’s were what the Singapore basketball team were called).

Ok this entry keeps getting interrupted by “Coffee Prince”, no I can’t type and watch at the same time cause it has dual sound and I like to watch it in korean (sounds nicer to watch Koreans speak korean).

Anyway, the stadium wasn’t really packed to the max, but it’s not like there’s no one there to support.

The cheerleaders (who only just danced around in short shorts)

small crowd

And a small crowd.

And a weird mascot which is suppose to look like the Merlion.

It was the Singapore Slingers vs the Wollongong Hawks. Singapore’s team had like, 2 Asian players? The rest were imported. And the Asian players came out to play for only a few minutes before going back to bench-warming duty. So anyway, we had pretty good seats which were really near the court. We were seated in the front row! Just behind the sponsers of the game. During the game, whenever the Aussies were going to shoot (cause someone commited some foul which I couldn’t make out what it was through the referee’s handsigns) some Singh guy seated in on of ‘boxes’ meant for sponsers would hold up this sign saying ‘MISS LAH’ and then he’ll flip it over with it saying ‘I’M HERE WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND’.

the sign! the sign!

If you look properly you’ll be able to spot the sign.

Singapore won the game in the end.

And we were allowed to go onto the court, and take photos with the players whose names I had to find out from their jerseys cause I’ve never heard of them before. And, and, and, the infamous sign that captured everyone’s attention during the game was there too! Everyone wanted to take a photo with it. Haha.

Everyone took a photo with it except me, cause I was the cameraman. Heh.

The court… And the players.

Thats’ all folks.
