We’re going to Melbourne like, tonight. Go pack now.

9 10 2009

The mid-semester break went by so fast. But it was good. Spent the first week doing nothing, just bumming around and what not. And then the second week of the break was spent in Melbourne. It was a super last minute trip. I got woken up by JTWW (who has adopted AA and I as his ‘daughters’) and TT on Monday afternoon and was told to start packing because we were going to leave that very night. Yeah, they kinda like came into my room and I woke up to two figures sniggering at my bedside. So, I had a couple of hours to pack and then the next thing I remember, I think I had dinner and then we were leaving Adelaide. The housemates were mortified when they saw me walking out with a huge bag as I waved goodbye. They were shouting ‘Come back here!‘ demanding goodbye hugs before I was allowed to walk out the door. Awww…

Anyway, we left Adelaide at 1.30am and JTWW drove 8 hours to get us to Melbourne. It started out with TT in the front seat, and then she got sleepy so I went in front and got hungry at 3.00am. I’m a horrible road trip companion because I don’t talk much thus not being a very useless person at keeping the driver awake. Plus, I fell asleep for a while at around… 4ish 5am. Hehe. So poor JTWW was left to fend for himself. Read the rest of this entry »

We saw whales, seals and penguins!

21 09 2009

AA’s friend was here to visit, and she brought goodies from Singapore! AA’s mum got us mooncakes and bak kua. Yums. I was suppose to pay her back, but then AA said her mum decided that it’ll be a bribe for me to not pick on her daughter. Like, she’s the one who picks on me lor. Anyway, we headed out to Mclaren Vale and popped into a couple of the vineyards. Found yummy sauces, olive oil with lemon and dessert wine. After that it was off to Victor Harbour and we were lucky enough to catch the whales at The Bluff because whale season is supposedly over. We were just taking in the scenery when we heard the whales and couldn’t contain our excitement, okay. Maybe I couldn’t contain my excitement, not sure about the rest. Haha. Royal Adelaide Show

12 09 2009
At the goat show thing

I have yummy apple and guava juice

Lots of people were talking about it. So AA and I decided that we would go and check it out. We spent the whole day on our feet walking around the show grounds checking out the rides and many various the stalls selling all sorts of things. We ventured from the stalls selling fruits, plants and what not, to the hall that had stalls selling show bags. They had tents up for food tasting, animal petting, goat shows, pig racing, cowing milking etc. The cows were taller than I am and I was pointing to the cows while telling AA ‘That’s the milk you’ve bought’ since Pura was demonstrating how they get their milk. She winced a little, hahaha.

The four of us made it back home with sore legs because we were walking so much. I slept really well that night, I was so tired at the end of the day. And, and, and… we’re going to attempt to fly the kite that we got at the show… one day. Haha. Not sure when that day will come though.

Yet another road trip

25 07 2009

It seems like my unit is a huge fan of road trips. Especially so when we have two Aussie housemates whose homes are within driveable distance. So, about two days after we got back from Horsham, we headed off to Port Augusta where J is from.

I love swings (:

I love swings (:

Compared to our Horsham trip, our Port Augusta trip is way shorter. We were only there for three days. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. And this time, our new housemate (the exchange student from France) came along. We’ll call him TP on this blog :) Read the rest of this entry »

Because we love road trips

22 07 2009

Facebook is being a pain. For some reason, I’m having trouble uploading pictures from my latest trip to Horsham. Currently it only works if I gradually add less than 10 pictures at a time. Which, I would like to add, is painfully tedious given the fact that I have over a hundred photos I would like to put up. Rah.

Anyway, our trip started with me and Hills heading down to the city at 3.30am in the morning. It’s because the day we were suppose to leave is a Sunday and they only have the 5am/6am buses on weekdays, we had to take the late night buses (the public transport system here is stupid). Since we had to leave the house at 3ish, and we usually go to bed at like, 1 or 2ish, we decided that we’ll just stay up watching Supernatural rather than sleep. We reached the city at about 4am, and headed off to the Pancake Kitchen to kill time and grab something to eat. Our bus leaves for Horsham at 7.20am, so yeah, we had heaps of time to kill.

Gotta love the weekend

17 05 2009

Weekends are great because you’re finally getting a break from school! I just got back from Horsham. A small country town in the state of Victoria in Australia. One of my housemate is from there, so we paid a visit to his hometown! Plus he wanted to go back to replenish his supply of frozen home cooked food from his mum. Her cooking is awesome…

It was a 5 hour drive from Adelaide to Horsham. AM and J took turns driving us there. My butt was sore by the time we got there. But road trips are fun! Anyway, by the time we got to Horsham, it was about 7pm. It was dinner then a campfire, cozying around the fire we spent the night chatting and discussing our plans for the weekend. We couldn’t do much, so it was off to bed after we finished watching Superbad.

Woke up bright and early for breakfast, then a shower and then off to the farm! I got to ride a horse! And because I’m vertically challenged, I had to have the help of Hills to get me onto the horse combined with lots of screaming from me. I couldn’t help it. Wish I knew how to ride a horse. AM’s grandparents were really friendly, and his grandfather was really enthusiastic in introducing the farm animals to this Singapore suaku girl. He was so excited that I finally got to pet a chicken and have it so close to my face that I could kiss it! And then the guys proceeded to teach us how to shoot with a rifle. Yup, a real live and loaded one.

Aim, fire!

Cuts & bruises

4 05 2009

I’m getting more cuts than ever. How is it that every time a pair of scissors or a knife ends up in my hands I somehow get cut? Some times I don’t even know how it happens. It’s like, the next thing I know, I’m bleeding and the wound hurts. Gah, plus, to prove how much I’m getting cut these days, I’m running low on the box of plasters that I brought from Singapore that used to be full. I’m left with only one plaster now. Sigh.

Anyways, my Easter break was a good one. Went for Easter camp by OCF and then hopped onto a plane to Brisbane to meet up with H and A. It was awesome to see them again. It’s been so long!

(:
